Sacroilitis

How Do I Know if I Have?

Sacroiliitis and its symptoms is caused by either too much or too little motion in the sacroiliac joint. You may experience a number of symptoms, including pain in the lower back, legs, hips, or buttocks. It is also common for our patients to experience a general stiffness in the hips and lower back, or a pain that worsens when sitting for longer periods of time.

Risk factors for sacroiliitis include:

  • spinal arthritis
  • disc degeneration
  • injuries. such as a car accident or fall
  • complications from pregnancy and childbirth

Do I Have Sacroilitis?

What is the Right Treatment for Me?

In order to correctly diagnose you, your doctor will need to administer a diagnostic test called a sacroiliac joint block. Medication is injected into the joint, which temporarily relieves pain. If your pain is relieved, the diagnosis for sacroiliitis is typically certain.

With a diagnosis, Southern Laser Spine first recommends a more conservative approach to treatment, such as cortisone injections or physical therapy.

If conservative methods fail to relieve your pain, you can consult with a specialist about the right kind of treatment for your condition.
